(Our 2 Days/ 1 Night Safari to Jinja (Bujagali Falls) & Mabira Forest Reserve from Kampala, Uganda explores different sights and sounds of Jinja, including the Source of the Nile and a brief Jinja town tour. This safari will begin with a visit to the human-born Sezibwa Falls, then proceed to the Mabira Forest, a well-developed eco tourism site. Mabira Forest, the largest tropical forest in Uganda, is a moist semi-deciduous forest famous for its walking and cycling trails.

The forest is a home to over 100 species of large moths, butterfly fauna, 300 species of birds such as blue swallow, papyrus gonolek and the nahan francoline, the purple-throated cuckoo etc.

Thereafter, we will visit Jinja town, which is well endowed with historical resources, including the Source of the Nile, the Bujagali Falls, and old-style Indian buildings, among others.

White water rafting at the 5-grade rapids of the Nile is another exciting experience you can reward yourself with while on a safari to Jinja. Other optional Jinja Tour activities include:

Itinerary

Day 1: Kampala – Drive to Jinja, Uganda

Jinja is Uganda’s second biggest town after Kampala. It is where we find the source of the mighty Nile River, Bujagali Falls, and many industries. Jinja is located on the Northern shore of Lake Victoria above Ripon Falls near Owen Falls Dam.

Transfer from Kampala and head east along the Jinja – Kampala road. Stop briefly at Mabira forest; check out different primates such as the grey-cheeked mangabey and the red-tailed monkey. There are also butterfly and bird species, most notably birds. Such as Nahan’s francolin, localised forest wood-hoopoe and African pitta.

Mabira is a unique ornithological site in Uganda. Continue to Jinja. Check out the source of the Nile. The spot where Speke viewed the Ripon falls in 1862.

Day 2: Water Rafting/ Quad Biking/ Bungee Jumping/ Horse Riding
After breakfast, go for a full day adventure of white water rafting. Enjoy the most thrilling white water rafting at different grade stages in the morning.

The white water rafting begins with a comprehensive briefing and the fitting of life jackets and helmets. The rafting is done on an 18 kilometer stretch of the Nile River. The first few rapids are low grade (1,2) and give you a sense of confidence.

As the river meanders through beautiful scenery, the rafts are guided into the mighty challenges of the best “grade 5” rapids on the Nile. Eight major rapids are rafted plus lower graded runs to maximize the adrenaline rush of this adventure.

In the afternoon after lunch we return to Kampala reaching in the evening in time for dinner.
