The Unforgettable Gorilla Gorillas Safari |  5 days

Explore the depths of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, home to most of the few remaining mountain gorillas on earth, and proceed to an adventure of Lake Mburo National Park, which offers zebra, hippo, Impala, and numerous bird species.  From rainforest to savannah, this trip covers some of the most incredible varieties of sights Uganda has to offer.

Day 1: Travel (by road) from Kampala to Bwindi

Our driver-guide will pick you up from your hotel in the morning and transport you in a very comfortable vehicle to the park. You will make a stopover at The Equator (in Kayabwe) for any local crafts shopping and drive on for lunch in Mbarara town. Thereafter, you’ll continue with the journey through the remarkable green yet mountainous countryside that defines why it’s sometimes called “Little Switzerland.”

Upon arrival, you will check in at Silverback Lodge, where you will have your dinner and overnight stay.

*Meals include breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Transit time: 8 – 10 hours
approx. distance:     550km

Day 2: Gorilla tracking day 1

Enjoy an early but sumptuous breakfast and remember to carry your packed lunch as you leave the lodge to the park headquarters to meet your park rangers for a thorough pre-trekking briefing. The rangers here serve as your guides for the day’s excursion which may last from an hour or two to eight hours, before you can meet the gorillas. Nonetheless, once you meet the gorillas, you will be able to spend one full, unforgettable hour with them.  The day’s tracking is normally guided by where the gorillas were found the previous day.  Depending on your return time and state of body, you may choose to relax the afternoon away at the lodge or take a nature walk around the surrounding Batwa community after which you will return for dinner and an overnight stay.

*Meals include breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Day 3: Gorilla tracking day 2

Soon after your sumptuous breakfast at the lodge, we proceed to the park headquarters for a second tracking opportunity where you will track a different group/family of gorillas from the previous day’s.  You may have to feast upon your packed lunch along the way while breathing in the magnificence of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

*Meals include breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Day 4: Exploring Lake Mburo National Park

We recommend you have an early breakfast so as to set off in good time heading for Lake Mburo National Park. You will stopover for lunch in Mbarara town and proceed to enjoy an afternoon game drive as you get into the park which offers zebras, Impalas, Topis, hippos and a wide range of woodland bird species. You will then head straight to Lake Mburo Mantana Camp for check-in, dinner and overnight stay.
